Echo in the Fog marks the debut solo exhibition of Polish, London-based artist Karolina Dworska. Drawing on recurring dreams and the landscapes of her childhood in Poland’s Bieszczady Mountains, Dworska’s multidisciplinary textile practice constructs surreal dreamscapes where folklore, faith, ecology, and memory converge. At the heart of the exhibition is a sprawling triptych altarpiece, tracing a journey through the Carpathian forest; from untouched wilderness, through humanity’s intrusion, to a landscape that endures long after people have disappeared. Blending Catholic iconography with Slavic folklore, the exhibition explores a world where nature is not simply a backdrop, but a powerful force with its own agency.
Karolina Dworska’s (B. 1997, Rzeszów, Poland) multidisciplinary practice materialises surreal dreamscapes which intertwine personal mythologies together with abjection, the liturgical and ecological. Hypnagogic threshold states draw together disparate lands, bodies, desire and ritual - anchoring her work somewhere between the corporeal and the spectral.
Dworska explores the connection between recurring dreams and mythological allegory, and how the seemingly private, internal dream space can be externalised to connect to contemporary narratives and anxieties.
She graduated from BA Fine Art at Goldsmiths in 2020, followed by a year-long Fine Art Junior Fellowship at the University.
In 2021 she was selected for the Bloomberg New Contemporaries. In 2025, she was commissioned as part of the UK Poland Culture Season, creating a touring exhibition with Hounslow Creative People and Places. Dworska has exhibited locally and internationally, including a recent duo booth at Arco International Art Fair 2024 with Pradiauto.
